The LFA is calling on all members to protect our collective agreement, and demand respect for reappointment rights:
- Flood the email inboxes. Use the attached email template to contact our governors, our senior administration, and government representatives:
Email-templates: Email-template-for-writing-campaign-FINAL4. Alternate: webpage version.
Add your own story or send the email as it is (or write your completely own version). Make this issue known to all decision-makers. - Please share this email campaign widely: letters from students, alumni, community members, other unions, are all welcome.
- Stand with us at LFA information tables, A Building Foyer, August 6 and 12, 10:00-2:00pm. “Inform” our administration that their action is absolutely unacceptable. Come stay for whatever time you can. Non-faculty allies are welcome! Update August 13: watch for future gathering dates.
- Make our position visible. Place this poster on your office door: Poster-FINAL
- Watch for future actions.
Why?
- Langara senior administration are bypassing laid-off faculty for available work this fall. (The College is implementing this plan right now.)
- This work is being offered to faculty with less seniority on temporary contracts.
- If there are not enough faculty for the work available, the laid-off faculty will still not be offered that work, and the work will be posted internally.
- Laid-off faculty must apply and interview for the jobs they just lost – with no guarantee that they will be given the work.
This plan is grossly unfair, and a violation of our Collective Agreement. It undermines the possibility of long-term careers at Langara, and job security for everyone.
The LFA will protect our Collective Agreement, and our members’ rights.
