Important Update: Transition to Bi-Weekly Pay
June 24, 2025

This is a brief notice to remind you to check your email, pay attention to the details, and read all correspondences from People & Culture relating to the transition from monthly to Bi-Weekly Pay.

If you have not read the information article in last week’s Post (https://langara.sharepoint.com/sites/thepost/SitePages/Faculty-Moving-to-Biweekly-Pay.aspx), please do so. It provides some important information on the transition from monthly to bi-weekly pay and the scheduled start date. It also lists some dates for information sessions, the first one scheduled for June 25, 2025, at 11:00 via Teams. Michelle Kuramoto sent the details of the information session in an email on Monday, 23 June 2025. To access the meeting, click on the information link. Gabrielle Smith also sent an email on June 9 with this information, as well as a PowerPoint presentation to explain the transition process and a link to the 2025 bi-weekly pay period schedule.

It is important that you attend these information sessions and obtain clarification on any questions you might have. The most important information is that starting in September, our payroll schedule will transition from a monthly to a bi-weekly pay system. On September 19, 2025, you will receive your first bi-weekly pay.

Here are some important details regarding the transition:
– Effective Date: The new bi-weekly pay schedule will begin on September 19, 2025.
– Pay Dates: You will receive paychecks every two weeks, resulting in more frequent paycheques.

– As outlined in LOU 4 of the Collective Agreement (https://yourlfa.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Langara-LFA-CA-2022-2025.pdf), there is the opportunity to receive an advance equal to one week of wages to assist with the transition to bi-weekly pay. P&C will be providing further information about this option and how to request this.

– Additional Information: Further details about the specific pay dates and any changes to payroll procedures will be shared at the information sessions and by email. Please check your email throughout the summer for any updates.

If you have any questions, contact your HR Partner or the stewards at stewards@yourlfa.ca. Please do not hesitate to reach out.
