News update: Union support for cleaning staff at Langara
January 26, 2016

News update: Union support for cleaning staff at Langara

The LFA has been asked by the BC Federation of Labour (BCFED) to share the attached Justice for Janitors poster with LFA members. The LFA is an affiliate of the BCFED. The BCFED is urging LFA members to offer any moral support and encouragement to campus cleaners to join a real, BCFED-affiliated union, SEIU Local 2.

There is a sense of urgency to this. As early as this week, cleaning staff will have the opportunity to vote to join SEIU Local 2.

The poster has already been posted on various information boards on campus. Feel free to share this poster and to consider posting in your office.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact the LFA. We have also compiled an information sheet about the working conditions of cleaning staff at Langara College that you may find helpful.
