Mindful Stress Reduction with Jessie Rain Anne Smith
You might be wondering, why is Jessie running a session on mindfulness-based stress reduction? After my car accident in 2013, I was told to take up mindfulness. It helped, and it also hindered. So, I became a Qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Teacher through the University of California’s Center for Mindfulness. I modified mindfulness for brain injury.
I have also had many opportunities in the community and on campus to share mindful-stress reduction techniques with students, faculty and staff. Things are really hard on campus right now. For everyone – those laid off and those who have to pick up pieces from this mess. I wanted to share with you now some of the ways that mindfulness can support us in hard times. Nature and self-compassion are two of my daily go-tos!
Thursday, October 9: Mindfulness in Nature
We will walk around the golf course and practice a range of strategies to reduce stress (rather than the ‘walk ‘n fret’ technique we so often use)
- 4-5 pm (we might go a wee bit past five)
- Meet at the House Post
- Rain or Shine (mindful walks in the rain are actually a beautiful way to reduce stress!)
